Shown above is a montage constructed using 77 frames from a video I made of the January 21, 2019, total lunar eclipse as observed from Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic. Click here to see the video. Totality, the period the Moon was within the Earth's umbra, lasted one hour and two minutes. Note that several star trails can also be seen, between the towering coconut palms (Cocos nucifera) and the resort hotel. The next total lunar eclipse occurs on May 26, 2021, visible from Australia, eastern Asia, the Pacific Ocean and most of the Americas.

Photo Details: Nikon D5500 camera; Rokinon 14mm; f/2.8; ISO 800 for each frame with a 1-second exposure. Generated with StarStaX freeware -- 77 of 769 frames were selected.
