El Rostro Maya Sunrise

This stirring sunrise was captured from Cerro Cristalino (also known as El Rosto Maya and Nariz del Indio), Guatemala, approximately 6.990 ft (2,130 m) above sea level. This is perhaps the best spot in Guatemala to get a full view of the chain of Guatemalan volcanoes and Lake Atitlan (not shown here). While waiting for dawn to break, I noticed that the sky was quite overcast. Fortunately, my patience paid off and the cloud cover overhead began to dissipate just before sunrise, allowing me to capture this panorama of the eastern sky. Each of the peaks shown above is over 10,000 ft (3,048 m). Photo taken on February 17, 2019 (6:11).

Photo Details: Nikon D750 camera; Panoramic and HDR of 15 photos combined in vertical ƒ/2.8 aperture; 15mm focal length; Different exposure. ISO 100; Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6.12 (Windows).
