Iridescence in the Kitchen

The photo above shows an iridescent vapor above a hot meal I was about to enjoy. Sunlight streaming through a solar window, reflected by the white walls in the kitchen, illuminated the vapor. The metallic colors result from the process of diffraction -- scattering of light by similarly-sized water droplets that are less than about 1/10 mm in diameter. Photo taken on March 23, 2019.
