The photo above shows the sequence of the waxing crescent Moon setting behind the silhouetted Tuscan hills and the town of Chiusdino in Siena, Italy. It was captured at the end of evening twilight on September 30, 2019. Approximately 6 percent of the Moon is illuminated. Note the earthshine, the dim glow on the unlit portion of the Moon, on the left-most lunar image.
