Shown above on the rock in the foreground are petroglyphs on Stansbury Island, Utah, at the foot of the Great Salt Lake. This site provides evidence that Native American people, likely as early as the Archaic Culture, once occupied the island. Carvings discovered here include both human figures or anthropomorphs and game animals that were important to the island’s inhabitants. Note, depending on the water level of Great Salt Lake, Stansbury Island is often a peninsula. Photo taken on October 26, 2019.
