Shown above is a supercell thunderstorm observed near Brasilia, Brazil. Weather radar indicated that at the time the photo was snapped, just after sunset on January 15, 2020, this storm was approximately 60 miles (100 km) away. Nonetheless, lightning was clearly visible and certainly attention-getting. Fortunately, damage was light along the storm’s track. Note the bat flying just to the right of the lightning bolt.
