Shown above is a scene taken in the Anapo Valley, in Sicily, Italy, that features the Anapo river. This valley is part of the Torrente Cava Grande Nature Reserve. Anapo Valley is underlain chiefly by clay, allowing a number of different plant species (unique to Sicily) to thrive here. Some of the paths through the reserve are traced by the former railroad tracks that once carried the steam train that ran from Syracuse to Vizzini. Photo taken on February 23, 2020.
