Shown above is a foggy, early morning photo taken from the control tower of Viterbo Airport, approximately 50 miles (80 km) north of Rome, Italy. Note how in the distance the upper surface of the fog layer has a reddish tint as it’s reflecting the reddened color of the sky; whereas the area of the fog in the foreground is still shadowed and appears a blue-gray color.
