Shown above is an altocumulus cloud deck as observed over Carnago, Varease, Italy. These mid-level clouds form between about 8,200 to 19,600 ft (2,500 m to 6,000 m) when strong winds are aloft. Composed of tiny, supercooled water droplets, they often presage a change in weather, such as the as the arrival of a cold front. Photo taken on November 23, 2020.
