Featured above is the renowned Angel Oak, a southern live oak (Quercus virginiana) found in the Low Country of southeastern South Carolina. Estimated to be 300-400 years old, it was named for the tree’s previous owner, Justis and Martha Angel.
The Angel Oak stands 86 feet (26.2 m) tall, has a circumference of 25.5 feet (7.7 m) and a canopy or shaded area that covers nearly 17,000 square feet (1,579 sq. m). What a spectacular specimen! Photo taken on April 10, 2023.
