Strange Sunset

The attention-getting sunset shown above was captured from Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands on April 29, 2023. These odd clouds were present most of the afternoon but brightened to shades of honey and gold as the Sun neared the horizon. They may be a form of asperitas clouds. Note the mountains in the background are about 6,500 ft (2,000 m) above sea level.
