Summary Author: Marco Meniero
The image above is a fusion of 270 photos showing the motion of the stars (parallel diagonal lines) observed above the Rocca di Tolfa, Italy, superimposed on the tracks of aircraft (all other lines) that line up on the approach path of runways 16R/L of Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Rome). All commercial aircraft have lights configured for landing at night. In the vicinity of every major airport, lights from approaching and departing airplanes after nightfall mar the beauty of the night sky and make stargazing a challenge. Photos taken on the night of October 12, 2023.
Photo details: Nikon Z9 camera; Sigma Art 85/1.4 lens; each taken with 20-seconds exposure; stopped at f/4; 400 ISO.
