Shown above is a sequence of six shots taken of the waning Moon (third quarter phase) setting behind the Catinaccio in the Dolomites Range of northern Italy. They were taken On September 6, 2023, between 12:08 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. (local time). It just so happened that I found myself at the right place at and at the right time, so decided to record a beautiful memory of this enchanting setting. Notice the similarities in albedo between the Moon and the dolomite limestone --both are approximately 0.1.
