During the conjunction of the Moon and Venus in the early morning hours of November 9, 2023, I observed these showy coronae from my location in Sampieri, Sicily. A deck of mid-level clouds (altocumulus) can be seen just above the cumulus type clouds at bottom. Altocumulus clouds are composed of minute water droplets, that act to diffract light, resulting in these colorful rings. Note that the colors are brought out here by using a longer exposure time. Photo taken on November 9, 2023, at 04:30 local time.

Photo details: Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera; Sigma DG 50 mm lens; f/5. 6; 4 second exposure; ISO 3200; LightRoom; Photoshop.
