As shown above, the annular eclipse of October 14, 2023, is viewed in the anti-Sun direction through pinholes in a backyard tree at Albuquerque, New Mexico. Natural spaces between leaves in effect create small, multiple pinhole-cameras as sunlight leaks through onto the ground underneath.
This image is part of a compressed video (2 minute) containing 187 frames obtained every 15 seconds for 67 minutes, extending just past the time of maximum eclipse. Click here to see it. The dynamics of the video show the progression of the eclipse enabling the eye to see even more details.
