The photo above shows South Africa's impressive 16 mile (26 km) long Blyde River Canyon. Featuring unspoiled subtropical vegetation as well as exposed rock formations, this stunning river gorge makes up a portion of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, found in northeastern South Africa. Rock outcrops and cliff faces consist largely of quartzite. Note that the Blyde River was renamed the Motlatse River in 2005. Photo taken on February 24, 2024.
