Summary Author: Geir T Birkeland Øye
This stunning fireball over the Sunnmøre Alps of Norway lit up the entire night sky. It was captured from my home in Ørsta (western Norway) on January 2, 2024, at UTC 22:36. To be deemed a fireball, a meteor falling through the mesosphere must be at least as bright as Venus -- magnitude of -4.6 (at its brightest).
Photo Details: Canon 650D camera; Samyang 8 mm fisheye-lens.
